This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you whether your hooding comes from the lid skin or from the brow, or whether either operation is appropriate for your eyelids, your eye surface, your health or your circumstances.

Neither operation is a default

Nothing on this site should be read as ranking one operation above the other, or as describing one as the sensible starting point. Each answers a different finding, both carry real risks and real costs, and the choice follows from an examination rather than from a clinic’s routine.

No outcome is promised

No operation can be guaranteed. How much either one improves, how the two sides match, and how long the change holds vary between individuals, and a result is judged honestly only after several months. The lid crease scars are permanent, and a brow lift leaves scars at or behind the hairline that do not go away either.

Scars and when to seek care immediately

The lid crease scars are permanent; they mature and soften over months but do not disappear. After either operation, a change in vision, severe eye pain, a sudden loss of vision, or an eye that cannot be closed needs immediate care rather than a routine follow-up appointment. So does bleeding that does not stop with gentle pressure, or spreading redness with fever.
